Grizzly Bear

Wildlife in all national parks are located, although the species and populations vary greatly depending on geographic location. One of the most majestic animal is the grizzly bear. Grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) is a powerful predator that is able to sprint out of a horse, and with a weight up to 350-600 pounds. Grizzly bears in Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier National Park in Montana and Wyoming are found. Larger populations of grizzly bear off in Western Canada and Alaska found.

Grizzly bear are omnivores, meaning they eat plants and animals. They often feed on new grasses and winter-killed carcasses during their first out of hibernation in the spring. Bears have a keen sense of smell and can detect food miles of several kilometers. Under normal circumstances, grizzly bears and people are afraid to try to avoid them. However, bear encounters occur for various reasons, and can be dangerous for the bears and the outdoorsman.
